Gracious Living Day by DayFor more than a year I have been writing about little Avery Klemola.

When she was only six months old, Avery was diagnosed  with non-rhabdomyosarcoma.

This is a rare form of cancer that has the characteristics of three different types, all in one. By the time she was diagnosed, the disease had already spread to her lungs and was ranked Stage 4.

After four rounds of intense chemotherapy, followed by surgery, her cancer had shrunk and there are now no traces of lesions in her lungs or anywhere else in her body.

It was a difficult and frightening time for Avery and her family.

But they banded together, and with help from friends and strangers, they made it through.

In fact, they did more than just make it through. They organized, formed Avery Cancer Fundraising teams, participated in Relay for Life and raised a lot of money for cancer care and research.

How is Avery doing now?

Avery is doing great.

On February 21st, Avery turned two.

She had her three month checkup this spring and there is no trace of cancer.

She is feeling well and is enjoying her days as a careless, smart and sassy little girl. She is speaking up a storm. She keeps up with her two older brothers.

Avery’s hair is growing, and getting longer every day.

Avery is a joy to her parents and everyone who knows her. She gives us all hope.

Have a glorious summer, little angel!

Your sister Alana keeps me posted on how Avery is doing. It brings joy to my life to hear that she is happy and being a careless, mischievous two year old.

I wish you, your husband, your boys and all your family a happy summer and all the best that this world has to offer.
